The spiritual leader of the Great Sioux Nation wants horse and buggy rides to remain a New York City fixture.
Chief Arvol Looking Horse toured the Clinton Park stables and visited the carriage horses. Incoming mayor Bill De-blasio supports ending the horse and carriage rides, but the chief says that would be a mistake.
Some critics, including animal rights activists say house drawn carriage rides are inhumane. But supporters say the animals are treated well and that there is no evidence of abuse.
