HSUS horse sanctuary director sues over firing

The former director of a horse sanctuary operated by the Humane Society of the United States claims she was fired for “whistleblowing activities” involving environmental and workplace safety rules.

Kathleen Strek, former director of the group’s Duchess Sanctuary in Oakland, Ore., has filed a legal complaint claiming she was terminated from her position last year after contacting Oregon regulatory authorities.
